MoU signed with AYUSH Ministry (NMPB), in the presence of Shri Prataprao Jadhav, to promote medicinal plant conservation and traditional medicine.
In a historic move to strengthen India’s commitment to medicinal plant promotion, conservation, and the integration of traditional medicine into mainstream healthcare, two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed at
Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi, in the august presence of
Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Ayush & Minister of State for Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav.
The signing marks a pivotal step towards preserving India’s rich biodiversity and advancing research-driven, holistic healthcare solutions.
MoU 1: National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) & IshVed–Bioplants Venture
This agreement focuses on the
conservation of germplasm for rare and threatened medicinal plant species. Through this collaboration, both parties aim to safeguard valuable genetic resources, promote sustainable cultivation, and strengthen the herbal medicine industry.
MoU 2: NMPB, All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), & AIIMS, New Delhi
This collaboration will lead to the establishment of a
National Medicinal Plants Garden at AIIMS, New Delhi — envisioned as a living repository and knowledge hub for medicinal flora. The garden will serve as a platform for research, education, and public awareness, benefiting students, researchers, healthcare professionals, and communities.
The event was graced by
LVaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, along with senior officials from AIIA, AIIMS, and NMPB. The partnerships reflect the Ministry’s dedication to blending traditional wisdom with modern scientific advancements, paving the way for innovation in healthcare and global recognition of India’s medicinal heritage.
These collaborations are expected to
drive cutting-edge research, promote sustainable livelihoods for farmers, enhance biodiversity conservation, and contribute to the global wellness movement.
